Last year I began taking time to experiment and develop my gel printmaking skills. I have previous experience in other forms of printing - collograph, screen, etching and, of ocurse, lino but gel or Gelli printing was new to me. It is a very immediate process and has opened up lots of avenues for me. I work on a large gel plate and print with acrylic paint on heavy watercolour paper, which gives some lovely texture. A finished print will usually contain 5 or 6 layers and like many art forms it can go wrong at any stage! But the use of various materials as stencils is a a delight for experimentation.
